Boys
They stink
Who needs them?

When all they do is
disappoint
or break your heart
or your spirit.

They trick you
into thinking they
like you,
then they go away
and leave you,
with your feelings astray.

They say they love you
And you believe they do.
Then they use you.

And now you have a bruise
Right on your heart.

Boys ruin your life.
Boys ruin you.

Hmm.

I see potential in you ,. This poem was a bit too simplistic for my taste , telling me what you were feeling at the time rather than making me think really hard about what you could mean. I like some of the simplistic analogies you used, they were nice - like having a bruise on your heart, a very clever twist on a broken heart, signifying that things will be healed over a short time, no problem. While a broken heart signifies that you are twisted for eternity, unless some kind of glue is created for an idea.(man, wouldn't that be a savior?) I also always have liked the thought of breaking spirit - a broken spirit in an endless search for something to weave the pieces back together.

While this poem can be true in a lot of cases, just know that not all boys suck

I'm with you Kitty, first song I ever wrote; "Boys Can be dumb, not all but some, I know, some day, I will find. The right one." Geeze, 8 years old when I wrote that song and forced my uncle's band to do the song and burn me a CD with it on it. I wanted my uncle singing it, but he had Millie sing it instead *gets huffy*
