|NOTES| wrote this out of boredom. I dunno. XD
It's strange how a reoccurring nightmare can extract the most bloodcurtling scream from even the strongest and bravest of men. A dream that's been experienced countless times, and in the back of your mind, you always know what will happen, but it's always as if you completely forget until you wake up, sweating, breathing so hard you feel as if your heart will stop beating.
But we hardly stop to think that perhaps this particular dream, this horrifying nightmare that comes nightly to haunt, to terrify, may very well be real. Possibly an omen of sorts, attempting to truly wake you from an ignorant slumber, where we build our own reality, just to feel safe.
Many never stop to consider that perhaps the reality they live in may be a merefantasy created by the human mind. A mind with yearns to believe it is highest on the food chain, safe and untouchable in it's cocoon of self-assured lies. So it creates a safe haven; becomes blind and indifferent to the world around it. A world inhabited by so many things. All fantasy comes from fact, things discovered by those humans who come closest to discovering the mystical world they are blinded from.
Yet they always remain on a one track mind, soon leaving behind the magical place they were so close to; magical being a loose term in which can be poisoned by evil. Monsters hiding under the bed or in the closet. Crouching in dark corners, shrouded by the shadows where nobody can see. Yet, the smallest of minds can sense them, scared of what they know lurks. Begging Daddy to check for the boogey man that he can't see.
Little do they know that the boogey man in the closet always follows, and as long as he is unseen, taunts, tortures, frightens the small one until the child finally gives up believing and becomes completely blind, as is the entire human race. It is strange how only the most innocent know of the most sinister. Demons hiding under the bed, waiting for the kill, but they hardly get the chance. A vampire in the closet who an't come out without the risk of the child screaming for Mommy and Daddy.
Yet the creatures never give up for some reason, perhaps wishing to truly be discovered. Maybe trying to break down the barrier between them and the humans. Possibly not out to harm, but just to befriend, to be known. And still, humans are too high on their horse to even notice what's standing right in front of them.
Until it kills them, that is.
