Opulent Misery
The Damsel of the Night
my hands fly up and cherish you-
the look of deathly sight.
And though you may not bother me
the pale of your skin is all I see.
When you come forward from your sanctity
you reach our lingering hands
and dance with me.
I feel the brush of your breast against mine
your cheek, soft across my lips.
It is a dance of lovers (one we might know well -)
As I faintly grasp your hips.
Your hands, they find my waist.
I fall to my knees and beg for redemption
But your fingers point me away-
Bow not unto temptation.
But my temptation is all my own as I kiss your fingertips.
Pull you into spaces you so gracefully fill
And my lips - they find yours
The world pauses, our sanctuary still.
I step back and look at you again
My friend, my lover, my demise
Your long black hair it swallows me as your pale skin pales with desire
A hunger parching your throat-
only I have satisfied.
The silk black dress so flatters you by hanging on too loose
Your eyes they come and smother me, blue as dark as night
My hands pry at my open mouth to douse the coming fight.
Your tears fall down and torture me -
Waken far at sea
Far from you- I am fearful for our sanctity?
I swim too fast and drown-
But your hand plunges to the water and saves me.
You hold me, pet back my dampened hair
I can't see, because I see you everywhere.
And still you're good to me,
Dancing me around.
But I wonder more and more if you're a taint
I'll never shake off.
Oh, misery.
